Quality Assurance

Certifications &
Accreditations

Held to the highest standards in aerospace, defense, and industrial thermal processing. Our certifications aren't just on the wall — they're built into every process we run.

Our Accreditations

Industry-Leading Certifications

Certification

AS 9100

Aerospace Quality Management System

AS 9100 is the internationally recognized quality management system standard for the aviation, space, and defense industries. It incorporates the entirety of ISO 9001 and adds requirements specific to aerospace — including risk management, configuration management, and product safety.

Key Coverage

  • Design, development, and production of aviation and defense products
  • Stringent requirements for risk management and traceability
  • Configuration management and product safety protocols
  • Continuous improvement and defect prevention
Accreditation

ISO/IEC 17025:2017

Testing & Calibration Laboratory Competence

ISO/IEC 17025 is the international standard for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories. Our metallurgical lab operates under this accreditation, ensuring every test result — hardness, tensile, charpy impact, microhardness — is valid, accurate, and traceable.

Key Coverage

  • Ensures metallurgical lab produces valid, accurate results
  • International standard for laboratory quality and competence
  • Covers all testing: hardness, tensile, charpy impact, microhardness
  • Complete traceability of measurement and calibration

Process Standard

AMS 2750

Our furnaces are surveyed to AMS 2750 pyrometry requirements — covering temperature uniformity surveys, system accuracy tests, and instrumentation calibration. The foundation of repeatable, specification-compliant processing.

Setting the Standard

A Legacy of Quality

In 1993, Lone Star Heat Treating became the first commercial heat treater in the United States to achieve ISO accreditation. That wasn't a marketing milestone — it was a commitment to building quality systems that would outlast any single contract or customer.

Two decades later, we expanded into AS 9100 and ISO/IEC 17025, bringing aerospace-grade quality management and accredited laboratory testing under one roof. Today, our quality program is the foundation everything else is built on.

1993

First ISO Accreditation in the USA

Lone Star became the first commercial heat treater in the United States to achieve ISO accreditation — setting the standard for quality in the industry.

2013

AS 9100 & ISO 17025 Achieved

Expanded our quality program to include aerospace quality management (AS 9100) and laboratory testing competence (ISO/IEC 17025:2017), opening doors to aerospace and defense work.

Today

Continuous Improvement

Our quality management system is audited and maintained to current revision standards. We invest in ongoing training, equipment calibration, and process refinement.

What Our Certifications Deliver

Process Quality Benefits

Our certified processes ensure every part receives consistent, specification-compliant thermal treatment — from receipt through final inspection.

Stress Free Material

Controlled heating and cooling cycles relieve internal stresses, producing dimensionally stable components.

Temperature Uniformity

AMS 2750-compliant surveys verify uniform temperature distribution across every furnace work zone.

Control of Heating & Cooling Rates

Precise ramp rates and quench media selection ensure target microstructures are achieved consistently.

Repeatability of Process

Documented procedures and calibrated equipment deliver identical results from the first part to the last.

Sample Plan Inspection

Every order is inspected per sample plan. Hardness testing, dimensional verification, and metallurgical analysis on every load.

Metallurgical Quality

Full on-site lab with two metallurgists ensuring microstructure, grain size, and mechanical properties meet spec.

Certified By

Independent Accrediting Bodies
